The Vendor Drawer, Finally Closed

We turned Kemps Cannabis's own purchase history into a supplier contact list so nobody has to dig through a phone for a rep's number again.

The problem nobody budgets time for

Every retailer I talk to has the same drawer. Somewhere in it is a stack of business cards from reps who don't work at that distro anymore. Somewhere in a phone is a contact saved as "Mike Flower Guy" with no last name. Somewhere in an inbox is the one email thread where a credit got approved, buried under three hundred others.

None of this is anyone's fault. Vendor relationships build up over years, one delivery and one text message at a time. Nobody sits down on day one and designs a system for it. It just accumulates, store by store, rep by rep, until the day you actually need it fast: a delivery is late, a credit is owed, a rep left and you don't know who replaced them. That's when the scavenger hunt starts, and it always starts at the worst time.

What we built with Kemps

We built this with Kemps Cannabis because they had the same drawer everyone has. Their POSaBIT system already knew who they bought from, what they bought, and how often. Nobody had ever pulled that history into one place and turned it into a usable contact list. So that's what we did.

WeedUs Commerce now auto-builds a supplier CRM straight from a store's own POSaBIT purchase history. For one Kemps account, that history alone produced 290 suppliers, no manual entry, no spreadsheet import, no asking anyone to type in a vendor list from memory. If you bought from them, they're in there.

How it actually works

The list starts from real transactions, not a directory someone maintains by hand. Every supplier that shows up in your purchase history gets a record, and against each one you can add contacts: names, roles, phone numbers, whatever you'd normally keep in your phone. You mark one contact as primary per vendor, so when something goes wrong you know exactly who to call first instead of guessing which saved number is still current.

Each supplier also carries an 'On WeedUs' badge when they're already part of the network, so you can see which relationships run through a system built for this and which are still just a phone number. And under each supplier we show the top SKUs you actually move from them, pulled straight from purchase data, not typed in. You open a vendor's page and you see who supplies what, not a blank contact card you have to fill in yourself.

The payoff

The value here is boring in the best way. When a delivery is late or a credit needs to get chased down, you open the app, you find the supplier, you see the primary contact, and you call. No digging through a phone for a name you half remember. No scrolling an inbox looking for the thread with the right rep's email in it. No sticky note.

What used to be a small hunt every time becomes a lookup. That's the whole point. We didn't build a new thing for you to maintain. We built a place for information you were already generating just by running your business, so it finally lives somewhere you can find it.

Why this matters beyond one store

Every retailer running POSaBIT has this same purchase history sitting there unused. The 290 number isn't a Kemps quirk. It's what happens when you point a system at data that already exists and let it do the sorting instead of a person doing it by hand. The work was already done, one purchase order at a time. We just made it visible and useful.

Your purchase history already knows who you buy from. We just built the place where that finally shows up as usable contacts.
